In the cell cycle, it begins wherever the cell is. The easiest way to start, is at Growth 1. G1 is the growth phase in which a new cell begins to grow and carry out its duty. Next, the cell stops at the G1 checkpoint, and is checked to make sure that is is at the right stage to carry on. If the checkpoint is passed, then the cell goes on to Synthesis, where the DNA is duplicated. Next after the DNA is replicated, Growth 2 begins. In G2 the cell prepares to divide, and start Mitosis . After G2 there is another checkpoint that makes sure that the cell is ready for division. Then, Mitosis starts and the cell divides. Finally, Cytokinesis happens and the cytoplasm in the cell splits, and you now have 2 new daughter cells.
